We all
ended up staying out quite late and after all the long bus journeys we only
just saw the morning. Eventually making it out of bed, I grabbed some food and
decided maybe I should actually do something and explore a bit more of the
town.
I wondered
to The Warehouse which I guess is the New Zealand equivalent of Wilkinsons
because I wanted to see if they had any compression bags to make packing my bag
slightly easier but the only ones they had were vacuum bags. From here I
wondered to Cuba Street, the main shopping road in Wellington. I always find it
really interesting looking at what different shopping areas have to offer and
how they try to draw people into that area. This precinct had a fair few
buskers and a big water bucket fountain thing.
I wandered around a Japanese
shop for ages and decided although I didn’t know what half of the things were I
wanted and needed them all in my life. Some how, I only left with a frog
bandana and a compression bag. Neither of which I needed but I only spent a few
quid so I let myself off, saying that I don’t think I can ever let myself go to
Japan because I don’t think I’d be as good. The compression bag didn’t really
work or make a difference, so I’ve given up on it but somehow my bag has become
slightly easier to pack.
I had
dinner with Kirsty and Francesca, who cooked a beautiful spaghetti bolognaise.
I couldn’t finish it all, so I had enough left over for another small meal, win
win for me! My evening then got crazy exciting as I washed and dried my clothes
and packed my bag, I know, I know, I’m a right party animal!
