It felt so
good to wake up and know we didn’t have to get on a bus today. First port of
call was to grab some lunch as we didn’t wake up for breakfast and where else
to go for your first meal in Queenstown than Fergburger.
This is a one off shop
but is quite well known internationally. It is just a burger shop but the burgers
were nearly the size of my face and tasted SO GOOD! Whenever you hear someone
talking about Queenstown it won’t be long until they mention this place. I
decided to go for the classic with cheese just to get the real Fergburger
experience.
We then wondered
around some more and explored the town. Gary told us to check out Arrowtown,
which we plan to do tomorrow and instead of taking the bus we thought about
hiring a car but that seems impossible just for a day so I guess it’s back to
square one with that idea.
As the
weather was absolutely beautiful we wondered down to the lake and just chilled
on the beach soaking up some rays. We are already at the stage where you walk
around a town and know half of the people you see because there is a Kiwi bus
that turns up everyday and not everyone leaves on the same day so a lot of
buses are now crossing over.
Nomads
provide a free dinner on a first come first served basis every evening. After
our burger we were a little bit hungry by dinnertime so we decided to go and
see what they give you. Tonight’s dinner was the classic British meal of
Bangers and Mash, it was given to us in quite a tiny bowl but you could re-join
the queue and get more if you wanted but the amount we were given was enough
for us. It wasn’t amazing but hey, I can’t really complain when it’s free.
Most people
that night were going drinking on the beach but as rock and roll as the three
of us are we decided to go to Cookie Monster and buy an ice cream sundae
instead. We were all so close to finishing it but sugar overload took over
first.
